Kathryn Wilson
Associate Attorney

Hi, I’m Katy.
You can’t get more native Arkansan than I am; born and raised in the Natural State. Education and Musical talent are in my blood. Everyone in my family can play an instrument, and both of my parents and both of my siblings have been or are currently teachers. It may come as a surprise, then, that neither teaching nor music were ever on my short-list of career interests. While I’m not a teacher by trade, being surrounded by those interested in educating themselves and others left me with an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. I absolutely love learning new things! In fact, I love learning so much I have four degrees, and innumerable self-taught hobbies.
As an Arkansas native, it makes sense that Arkansas educated me too, specifically Arkansas Tech University, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Science degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security. Then, graduating Magna Cum Laude from UALR’s William H. Bowen School of Law in 2015, and UALR with a Master of Public Administration in 2016. During my last year of law school, I worked for Justice Robin F. Wynne at the Arkansas Supreme Court as his administrative assistant and an extra law clerk, then in 2016, I went back to work at the Arkansas Supreme Court as a temporary law clerk for Justice Karen Baker–filling in while one of the permanent law clerks was on extended maternity leave–reviewing Rule 37 petitions. I also worked as a judicial law clerk for Judge Morgan E. Welch in 2024.
I started Immigration Law in 2017, and focused on asylum and appeals to the Board of Immigration Appeals. I spent a lot of time in Memphis going before the U.S. Immigration Courts. In 2018, I was offered a position in healthcare law at Mitchell, Blackstock, Ivers, & Sneddon. I made the switch and worked in that area of law for seven years, including working for DHS and Centene Corp, while also continuing immigration appeals and federal appeals work in my free time.
My diverse education provided an opportunity that many can only wish they were afforded: working in, with, and for a variety of areas, professions, companies, agencies, and people, including law firms, administrative agencies, judges, elected officials, small business owners, and large corporations. I hesitate to say this, because I hope no one considers it a challenge to prove me wrong…but, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a legal issue that I don’t have the knowledge (or resources to find the knowledge) to solve!
You’ll also have a hard time finding anyone to disagree that my career path is anything but well-rounded, as it includes being an integral part of crafting our statewide response to Arkansas’ worst natural and man-made disasters, helping people escape persecution in other countries and stay with their families in the United States, guiding Arkansans through amending our laws, drafting regulations on behalf of Arkansas’ healthcare providers, assisting DHS with Arkansas’s Medicaid Program and defending those who depend on that program against the adverse decisions of Arkansas and the federal government. A well-rounded career, which provides a breadth and depth of knowledge (and professional relationships) unparalleled in the private attorney sector, and, most importantly, is an invaluable asset to Lion Legal and our clients.
While my range of experience is diverse, my one true constant North is my unwavering dedication to bettering the lives of people – people I encounter, people I work with or for, and now, the people who need my unique perspective to resolve their problems, our Lion Legal clients.
I started with Lion Legal in January 2025, completing four state appeals and one federal appeal in my first year. I am currently working on multiple state appeals, post-conviction record sealing cases, and civil cases.
Maumelle is where I settled with my husband and daughter, and Matty–our Great Pyrenees and the light of our lives!
