QDROs
QDROs, of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders, are special legal orders required after a divorce to divide investment or retirement assets.
The orders are separate from Divorce Decrees, complicated to draft, and unique to each situation. They are often needed in divorces, but many family attorneys are unable or unwilling to handle them because they are very time-consuming and complicated.
If you are already divorced and need a QDRO, call us to get the retirement to which you are entitled. Many divorce attorneys refer them to us after finalizing the divorce.
How much does a QDRO cost?
We estimate that QDROs from beginning to end will run approximately $2000, and that is the initial retainer for all QDROs we handle. This estimate includes all communication, information gathering, drafting the order, obtaining approval from the retirement company, having it entered by the Court and then having it enforced by the retirement company, so long as we have the cooperation of your ex-spouse. Lack of needed cooperation can increase the fees by requiring contested hearings or other legal services beyond the initial stage of a QDRO.
